Two-factor login means that after your password you also type a 6-digit code from your phone. It takes about two minutes to set up once, then a few seconds each time you log in.
Step 1. Get an authenticator app
This is a free phone app that shows a 6-digit code which changes every 30 seconds. Either of these works, pick one:
Google Authenticator
App Store
Google Play
Microsoft Authenticator
App Store
Google Play
Already using a password manager like 1Password or Bitwarden? It can store these codes too, so you don't need another app.
Step 2. Log in as normal
Go to lexisagent.com/lexis-login/ and enter your username and password. If you are already set up, you will be asked for your 6-digit code straight after this screen.
Step 3. Set up the code
If you have not set up two-factor login yet, a setup box appears after you log in and asks you to Choose the 2FA method.
- Choose One-time code via 2FA App (TOTP). TOTP is just the technical name for the 6-digit code from your app.
- A square QR code appears. Open your app, tap + or Scan QR code, and point your camera at the square.
- Click I'm Ready.
- Your app now shows a 6-digit code. Type it into Verification Code and click Validate & Save. This is the step that saves it.
- Click Generate list of backup codes and save them somewhere safe. These are how you get in if you lose your phone.
- Click I'm ready, close the wizard.
Prefer not to install an app?
Choose Passkeys instead of the code option, and log in with Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint. There is also a Log in with a passkey button on the login screen once you have set one up.
Every time you log in after this
Enter your password as usual, then open your authenticator app, read the current 6-digit code and type it in. The code changes every 30 seconds, so if it expires while you are typing just use the new one.
